In February, Houchens Industries added Ace Hardware to its family of retailers. Ace made its debut inside Buehler’s IGA in Darmstadt, Indiana. In May, a second Ace opened inside new concept store Hank’s Market in Washington, Indiana.
Ace Hardware is known for serving communities with independently owned locations that come in all sizes based on the needs of its individual neighborhoods. “From a product standpoint, Ace Hardware is a natural brand to combine with a grocery store, as it adds to the convenience factor and gives customers more reason to visit,” said Jimmy Nichols, COO of Houchens Food Group.
“We believe that Ace has a superior offering and has created a program specifically compatible with our mission to offer store-within-a-store convenience for our customers,” Nichols says. “It could potentially fit into any of our store environments.”
In late September, Houchens expanded its’ Ace partnership into the Food Giant brand of Houchens Food Group, opening at store inside the Paducah, Kentucky Food Giant location.
Houchens has also expanded its partnership with Ace Hardware by adding a freestanding store in Cave City, Kentucky in July. Houchens has plans to add additional freestanding Ace Hardware locations in the coming months.
